MATTHEW'S LIFE

IN A NUTSHELL

Matthew Quayle was born on April 11th, 1955, in Fairview Park, Ohio.  He spent his early years in Rocky River, Ohio, moving to the Tampa, Florida area in the early 70's.  After graduating High School, Matt spent a year or two in the Tampa area before moving to New York City to realize his dream of becoming a "New York Artist".

Matthew spent the next 26 years in New York City.  Commercially,  he primarily painted murals and his murals could be found throughout New York.  He painted prolifically at home, but never quite made it to having a gallery showing of his own.  He rarely parted with any of these works and left behind a substantial number of them.

The events surrounding the tragedy of September 11th, 2001 had a profoundly traumatic effect on Matthew.  So much so, that he returned to Florida within a couple of years of the tragedy, moving in with his father.  He continued residing with his father until his father's death in 2012.

Matthew continued painting in Florida, always experimenting with new styles and methods, until his death.  Matthew died on May 31st, 2014, of natural causes.  He is survived by his sister, Sandy, and an abundance of loving friends.
